Humboldt Spay/Neuter Clinic

Humboldt Spay/Neuter Network (SpayHumboldt) is a non-profit spay/neuter & wellness clinic that has been serving Humboldt County since 2014. Our clinic and programs are run predominantly on donations, private grants and we do not receive any government funding. We work hard to provide low-cost spay/neuter and other wellness care to the needy animals in our community, and have fixed over 27,000 dogs and cats since our clinic first opened, 80% of which belong to low-income families. We have a well-established TNR (trap, neuter, return) program that serves over 1,000 feral and stray cats a year. Providing them with spay-neuter, medical and foster care. We have recently added wellness exams and basic illness treatments to our list of services and we plan to be operating a low-cost dental program early this summer. These programs are offered to low-income households, many of which would not receive care without our help. Spay Humboldt has become a hub for local resources and care that so many in Humboldt County and beyond turn to.

All this progress and growth would not have been possible without the clinic location on Myrtle Avenue we moved to in 2019. This beautiful building and property was generously renovated to fit the growing needs of the clinic and our community. However, the roof is much older than our ownership of this building. Over the past 2 years, leaks have slowly started to appear. Leaks in our treatment and operating rooms have been temporarily patched but the damage still remains. At the beginning of this year, another leak appeared on the first-floor ceiling and behind the wall, which shows this leak is quite old, but this year presented itself-- not to mention, the slow but steady damage that our pitched roof has caused on the second story of our building.

We had several roofing companies assess the damage and extent of this rebuild. What we learned from the professional roofers is that our roof was done poorly and incorrectly in the first place, thus, contributing to its rapid decline.

We are so fortunate to have this space to grow and flourish, but in order to maintain it and to prevent further damage to the interior we need to fully replace the roof. Please help us raise funds to fully replace our roof and fix the interior damage of this community clinic!

We have to get this roof replaced in order to continue to operate. We fear another fall/winter season with our roof in its current state. We understand this is a huge ask, but if our community can help us achieve this massive undertaking, we will be forever grateful. All funds raised will go directly towards structural damage and roofing costs.
