Humane Society of Sonoma County

Thank you for visiting the “Roxxy Happy Paws” GoFundMe fundraiser for the Humane Society of Sonoma County.  My beloved dog Roxxy recently passed away after a very intense seven ½ months battle with kidney failure. 

To me Roxxy was more than a family member.  She was a fighter who defied the odds and lived to trust a human being again.  She had an incredible will to live.   I adopted her over 11 years ago after she was deemed unadoptable and scheduled to be euthanized. 

She was found in Sacramento on a street hiding near a trash can covered in blood, dirt and fleas.  There was little hope for her but a veterinarian in Sacramento decided to give her another chance.  She had multiple surgeries and recovered from a broken rib and a collapsed lung.  However, the doctors could not help her with a spinal injury and the digestive system collapse after weeks of aggressive antibiotic therapy which was needed to save her life.   Most importantly, Roxxy suffered from an emotional trauma and could not trust another human.     

No one wanted to adopt Roxxy.  She needed more surgeries, additional treatment for other ailments, special diet and a special home that could help her overcome a fear of humans and other dogs.  My family and I gave her that chance.  It took a year for her to gain trust and become a normal dog again.  My brother (through trial and error and a lot of research) developed a special diet for her – a home cooked meal with a mix of digestive enzymes and vitamins and minerals.  We were even able to find non-surgical treatment for her spinal injury. 

She lived very happy 11 years. 

I wanted to dedicate this page and this crowdfunding event to Hope and Love and the Happy Paws.  Many animal shelters and recue groups are struggling due to the Covid-19 impact.   I am Hoping that you could donate to a worthy cause so that other people like me can provide an opportunity to provide a Loving environment to another Roxxy.  This Fundraiser and all efforts are dedicated to dogs like Roxxy and the volunteers of the Humane Society of Sonoma County.    Please help support your local animal shelter/humane society.
