Many of you know that 2022 has proven to be a challenging year for shelters everywhere, and the Humane Society of Imperial County is among the list of many shelters that have struggled. Shelters (including our own) have been bombarded with hundreds, if not thousands, of owner surrenders. Some shelters have been forced to euthanize hundreds of animals weekly to deal with the overcrowding caused by this unwanted pet crisis. Although it was not easy, no matter what obstacles we have faced, our team has managed to keep true to the promise we made in 2014 - To eliminate the needless euthanasia of happy, healthy, and adoptable animals for time or space constraints. Through countless rescue transport efforts, several lowered adoption fee campaigns, and more spaying and neutering of owned pets than ever before, it has taken the love and support of our friends near and far to keep that promise. Even for the animals that come into our care with illness or injury, we have done everything we can to ensure they receive the love and care they need. In November 2022 alone, we have spent nearly $10,000 in medical expenses for sick and injured homeless pets. With 2023 right around the corner, we intend to stay true to our promise and do more for our community's homeless pets.
Giving Tuesday presents an amazing opportunity for community members to come together and make a huge impact on organizations such as ours. So that we can keep the promise we made nearly a decade ago, we are asking our friends and supporters to come together to help us reach our Giving Tuesday goal. Whether you give $5 or $500, no amount is too small or too big. Every dollar donated makes a direct and pawsitive impact on the life of a shelter pet in need. Whether you donate, share, or advocate, everyone can help make a difference this Giving Tuesday. With your contribution, together, we are saving lives!
Thank you all for your love and support!
