HONK! The Vote 2025: A Mobile Pop-Up Processional
Take It To The Streets with HONK! The Vote 2025: A Mobile Pop-Up Processional.
We're truckin' -- by flatbed truck turned mobile stage – Sunday, October 19th with HONK! The Vote.
Co-Directed with Melvin Gibbs, HONK! The Vote is the sequel to RuckUS VOTE 2020, a pandemic-era project encouraging democratic participation with the most persuasive tools in our kit: music, movement, spoken word, and spectacle.
We love public art!
We love the democratic process!
We love big festivals!
We love NYC!
We LOVE GIANT ELECTION DAY TURN OUTS, too!
HONK! The Vote is the culmination of HONK NYC!’s free and affordable fall festival programming by the people and for the people.
HONK NYC! 2025 features performances across all boroughs by over 20 bands in parks, public schools, Open Streets, and venues. And one flatbed truck.
Six days of Brass Bliss, Pounding Percussion, and Sparkling Spectacle!
Because Culture Is Democracy in Action: HONK! The Vote.
Blending music, spectacle, and civic engagement, we begin in Harlem. Traveling downtown to Washington Square Park by way of Columbus Avenue, we will present four, 30 minute pop-up concerts featuring Melvin Gibbs in collaboration with global percussion troops based right here in New York. Don’t miss our closing performance featuring Frank London, our 2025 festival co-curator.
At every stop, we’ll be passing out information on voting registration and deadlines and asking audiences to answer our 2025 Ballot Measure, (in person and online):
“What’s Your Vision for New York?”
Is it gonna happen? This mobile pop-up processional of ours?
Why do we need your help?
It's three weeks away from the event, and we’re suddenly experiencing unanticipated production costs.
Funds raised will cover:
- Sound gear rental, because some things need amplification.
- Security guard fees. Gotta keep our people safe.
- Higher truck costs. Inflation, dude!
- Additional administration fees. It takes a village.
We WILL hit the brakes - decision to be made by October 12 - if we don't raise enough funds to cover these costs.
Can you keep our truck rollin'?
Vote for this spectacle of mega-expression and turnout with your dollars today!
Come to HONK NYC!
Dig the glorious sights and sounds.
Build community.
Exercise your rights, both to party and to vote.
This one's for you, New York City.
With love,
HOUSE of HONK! New York City
