Hopkins Technocrats Robotics to Championships!
We did it! We qualified to go to world championships in Houston Texas, April 20th -23rd. This event hosts teams from all over the world, showcasing the best of the best for FLL, FTC, and FRC. Qualifying for the championship is a rare and special achievement. We qualified with less than two weeks before the event and estimate travel to be approximately $25,000.
This is exciting for us for several reasons. The obvious one is we get to complete with, and learn from, the best. Additionally, our business plan consistently wins at regional events and we would love to see how it does in the international arena. Lastly, at the last regional our lead mentor, Jason, became a finalist for the Woodie Flowers Award. In an essay written by the students to recognize a mentor that inspires, leads and empowers his team. The international Woodie Flowers Award will be announced in Houston.
Aside from the competition being six times the size of a regional there is an innovation fair, scholarship row, and educational opportunities, it's a competition and convention in one. Not only will our team make memories they will come home inspired and energized to continue the mission of FIRST Robotics, which supports leadership and innovation in technology.
Fundraisers like our Pi Day fundraiser have gone a long way to get us here. We're asking for your support now so we can travel to Houston, take it to the next level and grow STEM through FIRST Robotics moving forward. Thank you for your support!
