Hope Refuge Garden
Hope Refuge Inc. is a nonprofit organization in Santa Barbara County, California established in 2013 in response to the growing awareness of the crisis in America involving children and young adults who are being trafficked in the commercial sex industry.
It is the vision of Hope Refuge to provide for one of the greatest needs for these girls; a safe place where they can be restored and healed. In order to contribute to this healing space, three UCSB students, Jess, Amelia, and Inês, are working to establish a permaculture garden on site that will serve as a form of therapy for the girls, a central source of nutrition, as well as an opportunity to receive academic credit by developing gardening skills. We are asking for and appreciative of any and all donations to create this space for purchasing supplies and necessary materials.
