Phase 1 KABATA SCHOOL PROJECT •One Block at a Time
Hope for Kasai’s current initiative is the Kabata School Project. In the villages of Kasai, children who are able to attend school walk approximately 3-5 miles every day. The existing schoolhouse is a man-made hut built of mud and branches, and a dirt floor. There are no desks - only rocks to sit on. When it rains water seeps into the school, and many times the school collapses and must be rebuilt. During these times, there is no school for the children to attend. Our goal is to provide a permanent structure to serve as a school for the children of Kabata and the surrounding villages.
The Kabata School Project will consist of 4 buildings, that will accommodate children in grades Preschool through 6th. The total cost of the project, which includes desks and blackboards is $155,000. As we are working in phases, we are seeking to raise $55,000 for Phase 1.
The gift of an education is priceless. Without our help, these children have no hope for the future. Together we can transform the lives of the children of Kasai!
