Creating in Covid is a new show, bringing theater to the small screen! We are a collective of theater artists, collaborating in this brave new world to create new work that speaks to the current moment. From connection/ disconnection to legacies of resistance to attending life's biggest milestones via Zoom, our goal is to explore and create these stories. We are bringing interactive theatre to life in inventive ways during a time when theater spaces are closed.
This fundraiser is to offset our production costs, and to pay our collective of artists a stipend for their work on this project. Our show "Unmuted" premiers on November 1st, and will be offered free to the public. This fundraising campaign is our primary opportunity to pay our artists!
Creating in Covid is the brainchild of Honest Accomplice Theatre, a Brooklyn based 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to create community dialogue and drive individual acceptance among women and trans people by exploring topics that are often silenced, seen as shameful, or portrayed as one-dimensional. Our process prioritizes the experiences of those who are most underrepresented in our field, and our work is built through intentionally anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices.
Honest Accomplice creates new work through devising, which surfaces the nuanced experiences of women and trans people. This approach engages audiences, allowing them to relate to the experiences played out on stage, and empowers the community itself with an opportunity to construct and occupy their narratives.
Anything you can offer is so greatly appreciated. As artists, we love theater. As humans, we love eating food and paying rent! Help us do both.
