C&S Missionary Church Renovation
The Cherubim and Seraphim Missionary Church was founded in 1996 as a simple bible study group comprised of just 3 families. From our humble beginnings in a member's living room, we made what for us were significant strides, moving into the space above a fish market, into a basement space, and finally into our own building at 11909 Sutphin Blvd, where we worshiped for more than 10 years. The Lord's ministry has grown in that time, prompting us to begin yet another search for a place to call our own.
That's how we began our years-long search for Canaan. We searched diligently, remaining in the faith while disappointment followed disappointment, until 3 years ago when our heart touched upon 588 Meacham Ave, in Elmont, a suburb of New York City. The place was an office and warehouse building that seemingly had been waiting for us, sitting empty for years.
The purchase price for the building was $650,000 which we, by God's grace alone, were able to pay after much fundraising, outreach to friends, family, and sister churches. The true work has, however, only just begun. We must remake the space into a house of worship that is welcoming to all. And this is where you come in.
We reached out to many contractors to help us bring the vision of the church into reality. Our cost for renovation is $650,000 but while the ministry continues to grow, our membership currently stands at 150 of which school-age children comprise a large percentage. We simply do not have the resources. So, we need your help. We have managed to raise $150,000 and secured bank loans of $350,000. In an effort to minimize costs we have worked with our contractor that our members can provide assistance by contributing some of the needed materials wherever we can. These negotiations managed to reduce our remaining costs to $150,000, which is our target for this fundraising project. We aim to begin the renovation project by the beginning of June, 2019, believing on the grace of God and the support of fellow believers. Please help with any amount that you are able to give, it truly would be appreciated.
