Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 and is considered a “Global Day of Generosity”
Giving Tuesday donors raised $3.1 Billion in the U.S. alone!
Nonprofits participate in Giving Tuesday because of the many benefits such as, increased visibility to new supporters, wide spread reach to highlight their mission, and soliciting donations for end of year funding.
Donors can make their final, tax-deductible, donations of the year while supporting their favorite organizations or just in their love for philanthropy.

Our mission is to provide progressive, personal, and community resources to complex trauma survivors and a path to healing for adults who are interested.
We strive to maximize human potential for freedom, growth, and independence in life through empowerment of collaborative community service.
The Hesed Place movement is a community approach that both treats trauma and addresses the prevention of trauma and re-traumatization.
The word “HESED” means “Loving-Kindness” in Hebrew - That’s where we come in!
Adult Survivors of Severe Childhood Abuse need us. THEY HAVE WAITED FOR SO LONG to get the help they need. In their words, these adults are the kids who:
“I grew up in a harsh world. Figuring out how to stay alive and maybe get hurt less was my focus. Consistent medical care and any concern for my physical or emotional wellbeing were not important to the grownups around me.”
“I was in my 30’s when I got out and I remember feeling like I was the luckiest person on the planet just because I was alive at 35. I hadn’t ever really anticipated being alive as an adult, and I had no idea how to live ‘normally’ in this world.”
“I remember the smell of whiskey in my baby bottle as a toddler and as I got older, I knew when my Kool-Aid was spiked that bad things were about to happen. This taught me that self-medicating was a viable survival strategy, and helped me avoid knowing and feeling.”
These adult survivors are the kids who didn’t get the help when they needed it. They were missed! They grew up in unending, consistent, horrific abuse. Things like:
REPEATED AND LONG TERM…
• Childhood abuse, neglect or abandonment • Forced labor and sex trafficking
• Ongoing domestic violence or abuse • Enduring torture, kidnapping or slavery
• Witnessing multiple acts of violence or abuse • Being a prisoner of war or political prisoner
The trauma usually begins in early childhood and involves primary caregivers and mentors: the people kids are supposed to be able to trust!
This kind of early childhood abuse can affect brain formation in a dysfunctional way. Trauma happens to the individual but impacts all of society!
Long term Developmental and attachment abuse affects everything in life from relationships, job retention, self-care, emotional regulation, memory, civic life and law abidance, health, and life skills overall.
Hesed Place understands it took years to endure this kind of abuse to get to “now,” and it will take years to give the brain, body, and spirit time to heal. With the right resources, healing IS possible!
And that’s where Hesed Place is different because:
* We value what the entire community can offer. Not just one expert, or one organization, or one service can guide the survivor through all that is needed to recover.
* We not only develop direct services for survivors, but our direct services intersect with community expertise in order to address the eclectic needs of the whole person (body, soul, mind, heart, and spirit) along the stages of the journey. Hesed Place is a resource hub and collaborator of sorts.
* The training we develop for communities touches on 6 primary components of community service. Our “Trauma-Informed-Town-Within-A-Town Model” consists of training and curriculum to offer specific community groups such as medical/therapeutic, law enforcement, educators, service providers and other professionals, and life groups (survivor support groups) field-specific understanding that can help change lives and the world. This model is replicable and has drawn a lot of attention from other communities nationally and even internationally. This is where we not only learn ways to prevent trauma from happening but how to not re-traumatize across settings.
* We offer an in-person and virtual approach to healing, local and national / international opportunities.
* Our future virtual and website goals include building a vetted international resource hub for all aspects of needs and services sought by trauma survivors.
* Also in the future are plans to add transitional living assistance and potentially a trauma center.
Each survivor receiving services is given the opportunity only because someone gives in order to make it happen.
Our goal as an organization is to address the symptoms and behaviors resulting from trauma as a community and empower individuals with the skills and understanding necessary for long-term healing and resilience - also in our communities!
