Honor for Luna
We weren’t supposed to meet her this way.
She was a young French Bulldog. Pregnant, but quiet. Bloated. Struggling to stand. By the time she was brought to our rescue, she was already dying.
What we didn’t know—what no one knew—was that her body was being poisoned from the inside out.
Her puppies had been dead inside her for days.
Their tiny bodies were decaying in her womb, releasing infection into her bloodstream. She was septic. And there was no coming back.
We rushed her to emergency care. We held her in our arms and gave her the only peace she’d ever known. We covered her $900 vet bill, including the cost of euthanasia, diagnostics, and transport—because she mattered.
But this is what no one wants to talk about:
She was bred by two young people who didn’t know what they were doing.
They didn’t know that Frenchies often can’t give birth naturally.
They didn’t know what to look for.
They weren’t ready when things went wrong.
When the emergency vet quoted $4,000 to try and save her, they couldn’t afford it—and chose to take her home instead.
By the time they surrendered her to us, it was too late.
Now, we’re fixing the father to make sure this never happens again. No more litters. No more accidental breeding. No more innocent lives lost.
We're asking for help covering the $900 emergency cost and the cost of neutering the dad. We do this work every day, but these moments break us—emotionally and financially.
