The Warmth & Comfort of Home
Home is more than just four walls—it’s a place of warmth, comfort, and security. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Hearts to Homes has helped transform empty apartments into welcoming homes for young adults aging out of foster care.

Because of generous individuals like you, over 825 young people have been able to step into their first apartments not as empty spaces, but as true homes filled with furnishings that provide stability, dignity, and hope. Yet so many more youth need our support as they take this critical step toward independence.

This May, as we recognize National Foster Care Month, we invite you to continue being part of this life-changing journey. Our goal is to raise $45,000 to furnish even more homes, and our Board of Directors will match the first $14,000 donated. Your past support has already made a meaningful impact—can we count on you to help provide the warmth and comfort of a home to a young adult in need?

A gift of $1,150 fully furnishes one NYC* apartment, but any amount will bring comfort and stability to these deserving young people. May is National Foster Care Month, and Hearts to Homes is celebrating with a goal to facilitate more new beginnings for young adults aging out of foster care. At Hearts to Homes, our core mission is to empower individuals aging out of foster care by transforming empty living spaces into a place they can call home.

Our goal is to raise $40,000 in the month of May - with our Board matching the first $15,000 donated. With your past support, we have already provided household furnishings to over 650 individuals beginning their journey to independence. More importantly, we have inspired confidence, security and hope for a promising future. Yet, there are so many more young people who need our help!

Your support of Hearts to Homes is especially important this month, as we strive to reach our goal of supporting nearly twenty young adults who will age out of the foster care system in the next few months. We can’t do this without you.

During National Foster Care Month, we are reminded of our own beginnings at Hearts to Homes and how far we’ve come with your support:

• We started our journey supporting young adults in Westchester, Manhattan and the Bronx. Eight years later, we serve foster youth in all of New York City and four additional counties.

• We initially partnered with one agency. Now, twenty-seven agencies send referrals to Hearts to Homes.

• In our first year, we provided home furnishings for six young adults aging out of foster care. Last year, we had requests from 150 young people. Already, eight months in our current fiscal year, we have assisted more individuals than all of last year!

• When we began this mission, our referral criteria limited support to foster youth who had graduated high school or completed their GED. Because of the generosity of our donors, we are now accepting referrals for those with diplomas, GED progress, or employment regardless of educational background.

We hope you feel as we do, that this journey, and your part in it, is worth celebrating!

At Hearts to Homes, our core mission is to empower individuals aging out of foster care by transforming empty living spaces into a place they can call home. We provide essential furnishings and a sense of comfort to those in need, ensuring that young adults who are transitioning out of the foster care system have the support they deserve as they embark on their journey of independence. By working to create a more comfortable living environment we can increase the stability of those who age out of the system while acting as a barrier to homelessness, incarceration, and multi-generational foster care involvement; all issues that affect the aging-out population. We aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve, one home at a time.
