Harbor Humane Society

Will you join me in making a difference? I'm raising money for my Eagle Scout project that will benefit Harbor Humane Society (HHS) in West Olive, Michigan. I am a Life Scout with Troop 147 in Holland, Michigan.

My Eagle Scout Project is to design, coordinate, manage, and help build an exercise path for the dogs who await their forever home at Harbor Humane.  Currently, the dogs have only a small area to play or exercise. My project is to build a path that will be about 1/4 mile that volunteers will be able to walk and socialize the dogs on. The dogs will benefit from getting exercise, fresh air, and learn, or improve upon, skills to be with people and other dogs.

Currently the area is raw land, with fallen trees and scrub brush, on uneven terrain. For the project, Scouts, using a mapped path I created from GIS information, will help define the path and outline the route. Once the path is marked, AJS Groundcare, of Holland, will perform the heavy work of grading and clearing the land. After the grading and clearing is complete, Scouts will return to finish the path, defining the edges and removing any stumble hazards, making the path fully walkable for the dogs and volunteers.

Any donation will help make an impact. The grading work is the bulk of the cost for my project. Other costs include ground stakes, marking paint, and other materials to identify the route, and food and snacks for volunteers helping me with the project.

If I exceed my fundraising goal, all remaining funds will be for the benefit of Harbor Humane and the animals Harbor Humane serves. Thank you for your contribution to this cause!

Coco just turned one year old. Before she can be adopted, and find her forever family, she has to have surgery to correct an ectopic ureter. We are her foster family, and are working with Harbor Humane Society to care for her while we try to raise enough money to pay for her surgery. All proceeds will benefit Harbor Humane Society (HHS), specifically to pay for the cost of Coco's surgery.  Any donation will help make an impact. Coco is a smart, sweet, loving, and fun dog.  She is playful and loves to play fetch and run in the yard. Coco walks on a leash, and is great in the car too! Coco is also a fabulous cuddler, who loves being with people.  She really is the best of all dog worlds!  We want to help raise money for her surgery.  Harbor is working on it so once the stay home order is lifted, we can move forward.
