COVID has really taken a toll on everyone personally, financially and medically.  Its destroyed many businesses and we are trying to not fall into that category.  This has been the hardest 6 months  Happy Homes has endured.  With low-cost clinic closed for 4 months are medical bills were at an all time high conducting spay/neuter at any vet we could get appointments with.  We took in 60% more kittens and cats during this time from last year.  We took in multiple litters of kittens that had ringworm, upper respiratory infections, calici virus.  We had 6 cats in need of eye surgery.  We took in a kitten with a broken femur.  We took in a litter of kittens that are partially blind. A little kitten that is paralyzed. We raced to save a kitten with internal bleeding.  Our newest arrival has more then half her body covered in scars and burns.  We helped Associated Humane taking in 14 cats.  We are reaching out to our supporters to try to help elevate some of the financial stress we are currently faced with.   Any support is appreciated.  We thank you and wish everyone a better coming year!!!

Last night the unthinkable happened.  Our long time foster Amy who has done years of amazing work came home to the fire department in her home and everything was destroyed.  Most of the cats are doing ok with the exception of being covered in debris but one (Ghost) is fighting for his life from smoke inhalation and remains on oxygen.  A few are being treated for minor respiratory problems.  Amy has given so much to so many animals and helped start Happy Homes from the beginning.  We want to help replace all the cat items and raise funds for Ghost's hospitalization.  We both haven't slept much yet but we will be post pictures shortly.  We thank you for your support and please keep Ghost in your thoughts as well as all the other babies.

After my 4th failed attempt at getting a supportive grant I have decided to reach out to our supporters who have always kept us going in good and bad times.  What is going on in the world is tragic it will affect us all in a negative way.  I understand that grants are limited and they are focusing on animal shelters and large organizations but where does that leave small groups like Happy Homes.  We use the ASPCA low cost spay-neuter clinic for spay, neuter, vaccines and fiv/felv testing.  Everything is shut down indefinitely but we still have cats that need to be spayed and neutered over 30 to be specific.  We have to use local veterinarians to help us through this but the costs will exceed any adoption fees.  Oh yeah adoptions thats almost non-existent right now!  We are trying but its very difficult doing remote meet and greets and using videos to show cats its time consuming and many times its not panning out.  I project that we are going spend over $7,000 through July of money that was not budgeted.  We are asking for your support no amount is too small.
