Hand in Paw

For over nine years, Hand in Paw has rescued countless animals: dogs, cats, bunnies, and even the occasional goat. Our focus has always been on the most extreme abuse and neglect cases from all over the world; the ones most often overlooked, or deemed “too far gone.” (Please look in the updates to view just a few of our transformations!)  Hand in Paw strives to accomplish miracles every day, and the sweet souls we were able to save are a testament to that. Our rescue ensures that every animal saved is given then best chance at a new life, and we have been blessed to have incredible fosters that welcome each animal into their homes and focus on socializing, rehabilitating, and providing them with the love and safety they needed to thrive in their loving forever homes. There is no animal that we shy away from. Whether it's behavioral issues, seniors, costly injuries and illnesses, or horrific abuse, we dedicate our full attention to give each and every animal their best chance at a new life, free of pain and suffering. Unfortunately, this is no small endeavor, and nearly every case comes with an enormous veterinary bill. Cancer treatments, orthopedic surgeries, emergency parvo and distemper treatments, cardiac patients, and even new eye lenses for some of our blind seniors. We have saved over 4,000 animals in our nine years, and we hope to save many , many more in the future. We are a very small rescue, do not receive any government assistance, and rely solely on the generosity of our donors. Adoption fees barely cover the basic medical we provide every dog that enters our rescue, as most require extreme or emergency care that can cost thousands. Due to a decline in donations, our resources have become extremely limited, and we are forced to consider ending our mission altogether. COVID has made it impossible to do our annual fundraiser and events for almost two years now, and being our largest source of funding, it has caused us to fall very behind on our vet bills, despite a drastic increase in the pleas for help.

Knowing their lives are in my hands weighs heavily on my heart, and I never want to stop fighting for them. The lucky ones that we are able to save go on to lead the most wonderful lives, with such caring and dedicated families. We are so proud of the work we do, the process, and the results, and cannot fathom having to turn away a soul in need.
