Can you help keep our hammers swinging?
Johnnie, Habitat's 29th homeowner, expresses her heartfelt gratitude. “I want to thank Habitat for Humanity and all the volunteers for giving me and my family this great blessing of owning our own home. May God continue to bless you and this program. Through God there is always a way. Thank you sooooo much”.
We got to know Johnnie and heard about her struggle to pay rent in an apartment that was too small for her 3 children. They signed papers and worked alongside us to build their new home.
We saw the pride as she walked through the front doors for the first time. A mom helping to build a new home for her three children. As the keys were handed to her, we could feel tears in our eyes as we watched the pride wash over her face.
This is why we come every week. This is why we, the Hammering Volunteers for Humanity, have committed to such an amazing organization. This is not a hand out, it is a hand up.
We are volunteers that have been working together, on average, for the last 6 years, and last year alone we logged over 3,200 hours building Habitat Homes. For several years, Habitat has had the resources to build 1 house per year. The current rate falls well short of our County's needs. We, the volunteers, stand ready to at least double the construction rate to 2 homes per year.
Habitat for Humanity of Beaver County is working on its 58th house. HHBC lent a helping hand to that many families to create a safe, comfortable home that most could only dream of.
With housing costs rising dramatically, families are struggling to pay rent and they can't even think about owning their own home. You can help us swing the hammer by donating today! Any amount will help us do even more to help our deserving neighbors. Any amount will help to get more families out of unsafe conditions and into a home that they can be proud of.
