Meg Runs the NYC Marathon
Hi Everyone!
Five years ago, I moved from a smaller community in New Jersey to New York City. I felt excited but also, if I am being honest, a little disconnected. In order to connect to a community as large as New York City, I joined two groups, the New York Road Runners (NYRR) and the Habitat for Humanity of NYC's Young Professional'd Board. Although I joined with little experience and even less stamina, both organizations welcomed me with open arms. Over the years ,they have afforded me with lifelong friendships, a purpose, and a sense of belonging.
Over the next 16 weeks, I will train with NYRR for my first marathon, on the anniversary of the 50th New York City Marathon!
And, after a period of time when so many of us have felt out of touch with our communities I am asking you to donate. Every donation helps no matter the size and all proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity of NYC the day after the NYC Marathon.
So, I am kicking off this effort on my birthday and the first week of marathon training! Thank you all in advanced for your help preserving, protecting and expanding affordable housing in our community, New York City.
