    SCITUATE HAS ACQUIRED THE EAST FIELD ON BORDER STREET!!!  WE WILL NOW BE WORKING ON THE CONSERVATION RESTRICTION,  SMALL PARKING AREA AND CONNECTION TO THE HUBBLE PRESERVE.  THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!



  LAST NIGHT THE SELECTBOARD VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT OF FIRST REFUSAL!!!  THEY WILL NOW NOTIFIY THE SELLER AND WILL HAVE 90 DAYS TO CLOSE.  AMAZING EFFORT BY THE CITIZENS OF SCITUATE ,  FRIENDS OF THE  GULF RIVER ASSOCIATION AND OTHERS WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THIS WINNING CAMPAIGN!!

YOU DID IT!!!!!   There were 706 people that turned out tonight (during a nor'easter!!) to the Town Meeting.  By our count about 700 voted in FAVOR of buying the East Field.  It was an amazing outcome.  In less than two months residents got together and preserved an iconic parcel of land FOREVER!  It's something you all will be proud of each time you drive, walk or bike by the land.  THANK YOU!

The final pieces are for the SelectBoard to vote to acquire the land next Tuesday, November 2 and then notify the owners that they are exercising their Right of First Refusal.  The Town then has 90 days to acquire the land.  In the meanwhile we'll be working on plans for a gravel parking lot and start to explore areas for trails. 

Congratulations again.  You all made a difference.  Make sure you tell your kids and grandchildren you were an integral part of preserving this land.
               
The Gulf Association will be working on sending tax acknowledgement letters (ugh, over 400 of them!!) so please be patient with us.
