greyhound rescue and rehabilitation

Mink is a recently retired racing greyhound. Only 1 1/2 years old, this little girl was taken in by Greyhound Rescue & Rehab, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. 

 Mink is a sweet little girl and we were getting ready for her to find her forever home when her foster parents noticed she wasn’t acting right. She was lethargic, not interested in going for walks, and was reluctant to eat. That’s just not Minker’s personality. When they took her temperature, they found she had a fever of 104! Without any further wait, she was taken to a 24/7 ER hospital close by.

An emergency ultrasound was quickly performed and we were advised that Mink needed abdominal surgery as there was a large pocket of, what appeared to be fluid. On Monday, June 15th, Mink had her surgery and a large, inflamed hematoma was removed. It was most likely a complication from her recent spay. Mink recovered well post-op but the bill for her care since being taken in by GRR is approaching $5,000. 

Greyhound Rescue & Rehab was founded in 2000 and has helped rehome over 1,700 retired racing greyhounds. We've often taken in hounds that need surgery for racing injuries or other additional care, but Mink is a special case.

We didn’t think twice when we were told the estimated cost, because you can’t put a price on a life. We are reaching out to all you animal lovers to help Mink.

These 3 greyhound puppies, the runts of their litter, are too small to race and are currently over 1,300 miles from their forever homes & the families that have agreed to adopt them. There were 4 of the litter of 8 that stopped eating and had to be separated from their mom and raised separately. They struggled early on, and while they lost 1 of their brothers, these 3 began eating again and survived with one after the other slowly getting better... and now they are almost ready for their forever homes!

Greyhound Rescue & Rehabilitation has found three forever homes for these 3 special puppies in the northeast (2 in Connecticut & 1 in Delaware) and is looking to raise $2400 for Brave Tide, a private non-commercial airline, to fly these 3 special puppies from Abilene, Kansas to Danbury, Connecticut (they are too small to safely travel by ground with full-size greyhounds).

These 3 have struggled to survive and lost 1 littermate already... and now that they are prospering, they are almost ready for the next step of their journey! They should be ready for their trip to Connecticut by the first week in August but just need a little help to get there!
