Nonprofit (501(c)(3)) public benefit research organization GSD Bio is democratizing vaccine production to prevent epidemics, using the same lactic acid bacteria from cultured foods. The new platform we have developed is called the Simple Epidemic-Ending Defense (SEED) system. It uses the power of biology for good, designed for access and to minimize the current system vulnerabilities that can leave us in harm's way.
We are community-driven and committed to helping address One Health (the interconnected health of all life in our shared environment) challenges at the local level, where the greatest needs are. What if we can do more, with the help of biology, than wait for help from a brittle, market-driven system that puts profit over health? GSD Bio was founded to build purpose-built tools and a model to address the question, "But what can we do?"
We all need better tools to empower us to protect our health. Your support will help build these tools. Our work has already produced prototypes that we will move to testing, against coronaviruses, flaviviruses (dengue, Zika viruses) and highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses.
