Like so many nonprofits, we've been hit hard by rising costs and declining donations. We came back strong after the pandemic, but we're now facing the most challenging financial period ever.
This is about real people rebuilding their lives after vision loss. It's about a mother learning to cook for her family again. It's about restoring independence, preserving dignity, and transforming lives. These are our neighbors, our family members, our friends, our community.

Meet Carmen. When she lost her vision, she thought her life was over. She didn't know how she'd sign her name, count money, or do the everyday things that make life worth living.
"When I first lost my vision, I didn't know where I was going to be able to turn... This agency taught me how to sign checks, maintain my signature, count my money. I learned Braille. I can still cook meals, clean the house, do laundry - everything that a person with sight can do. This agency has really helped me maintain my independence."
Today, Doreen lives independently. She cooks, cleans, plays games, and participates in support groups where she's found community and hope.

Our Services
GDABVI is an important community-based nonprofit organization that provides services at no cost to its participants:
• Training in daily living skills that restore independence
• Technology instruction for smartphones and computers
• Orientation and mobility training for safe travel
• Vocational Counseling
• Job Readiness Skills
• Support groups that combat isolation and depression
• Assistive devices like signature guides and money identifiers
• Transportation services
• Support for caregivers and families
