Great Lakes Burn Camp 20 in memory of Sarah Grundy
Sarah Jean Grundy was a wonderful young woman who graduated from Pinckney High School in 2012 and was preparing to enter nursing school when she was severely burned in a bonfire accident in the spring of 2013. 86% of her body suffered 3rd degree burns and she was not expected to live thru the night. She fought hard to recover and miraculously left the U of M Trauma/Burn unit after 7 1/2 months. While in the ICU she met Tracy, a S.O.A.R. (Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery)volunteer, who told her about the Great Lakes Burn Camp. Sarah was too old to attend as a camper, but planned to join as a counselor after she fully recovered. Unfortunately, Sarah succumbed to her injuries and unexpectedly passed away on January 23, 2014 at the age of 19 and never had the change to experience the camp for herself. As a way to honor and remember her, this fundraiser was started to benefit the GLBC and burn injured children, giving them a chance to heal and grown in a nurturing and loving environment away from the stares these kids often receive. Please join us in remembering Sarah and supporting an extremely worthy cause that helps these wonderful children. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
