When Grace Mercy Love takes a dog into our care, we make them a promise:
We will do all that is humanly possible to heal your wounds, mend your broken spirit, and find the perfect family to love and cherish you.
Today we brought Loki into our care and made that promise to him.
Loki's full story is still shrouded in mystery. We know Loki found himself at a local animal shelter, but the chain of events leading up to his arrival at the shelter are unknown. It remains unclear as to whether or not he ended up there as a stray or as an owner surrender. Harris County Animal Shelter volunteers posted a plea on facebook. They informed us of his injuries which were the result of an attack by another dog. The attack resulted in multiple puncture wounds to his rear leg. The leg is essentially shattered.
What we've learned in the short period of time is his shattered leg is an injury that he sustained around 6 months ago. Left untreated as it was, the multiple breaks have completely calcified. The first step in Loki's treatment will be to help him regain his health. Unfortunately, once he is healthy, the expert team at Vergi 24/7 inform us that his leg will require amputation. Despite the many enigmas surrounded Loki's story, we know one thing for sure: Loki's medical expenses will cost Grace Mercy Love thousands of dollars.
We have made a promise to Loki, and we will fulfill our promise. But we cannot do it alone. We need help from you, and the community of dog-lovers to uphold our promise to heal Loki's broken body and spirit. Thank you for joining in our promise.
