In celebration of all the beautiful new babies in their lives, and in gratitude for the baby whose birth we celebrate at Christmas, the Sussmann children are raising funds for Good Counsel Homes, which provides help and homes to moms and babies in need. "This Christmas, instead of giving us any gifts, we hope you will consider donating to our fundraiser for Good Counsel Homes," said Blaise, age 9.
"Jesus came to us as a humble little baby," said Audrey, 12. "Please help us to celebrate His birth by blessing these mothers and babies who need our help."
In addition to asking for donations in place of gifts, the Sussmann siblings have donated from their savings -- six times each child's age, as started by Blaise -- for an initial total of $222. GoFundMe sends donations directly to Good Counsel Homes and provides tax receipts.
2018 has been a banner baby year for our extended family, much to the delight of our kiddos. Audrey, Blaise, Xavier, Felicity & Cosmas were thrilled to welcome their first baby 1st cousins, Novi June (Jeni's brother's baby)
and Finley Gray (Ross's brother's baby), as well as three more 2nd cousins (Phoenix, Naomi, Seth)!
"We love all the babies!" said Felicity, 5. "They're like the baby Jesus!"
Good Counsel Homes has six homes for expectant mothers and their children. They accept mothers from any location as well as mothers with addictions or mental health challenges.
"These mothers want to have babies, but they need help," said Xavier, 9. "Please help us help them."
Good Counsel also has a national 24/7 helpline assisting pregnant women; a follow-up Exodus Program for mothers and children who leave the Good Counsel residences; and an outreach program for single-parent families. They’ve also helped other groups in eight states replicate their services.
