I was inspired create this today, 6/19/17, on what would have been Chris's 47th birthday. A year ago today I posted a request for prayers, hoping to speed up the miracle I guess I always thought would happen, never thinking it would be his last birthday here.
I am beyond overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support and tears and grief shared by all who knew and LOVED my brother. His passing at such a young age, created conversation and re-connection of so many struggling with what to do with the unfamilar feelings that were similarly shared my so many.
Chris was a special soul who touched many lives, more than I'll ever really know about, I'm sure. As one friend said, "he could do anything". Honors classes, top grades, amazing athlete, self taught muscian, but most importantly, a heart of gold and a good human being.
He loved life, and always inspired those around him to do the same. Until...............
It is hard to understand why "bad" things happen, and why they happen to one person or another, especially the really difficult things. But they do. Hopefully, there are lessons in the pain. Lessons at the end of the pain........
Addiction is beyond a public health crisis in this country, yet INSUFFICIENT everything, to prevent, address, and properly and thoroughly help those suffering remains............Please join me, in Chris's honor and memory, to help this agency, known to me through Chris, continue/improve the amazing work they do trying to make a difference....
