For the last 12 years the Chili Cook Off has raised money for our Gerlach Senior Citizens, K-12 School and Volunteer Fire Department. We also donate to our Community Radio station KLAP FM and local improvement projects.

COVID19 has affected life for all of us and unfortunately we have has to cancel the 13th Annual Chili Cook Off. The logistics of guests, food, fun and COVID19 could not be overcome and the loss of this resource will affect our whole community.

Our Senior Center non-profit helps with unexpected medical bills, lunch for seniors on days the center is not open, sending flowers when needed and providing entertainment events.

Our Volunteer Fire Department non-profit also helps with unexpected medical costs, equipment for volunteers, and continuing education for staff and volunteers.

Our K-12 school, being 100 miles from the nearest urban center, uses this to support field trips for education, funding school supplies and technology, and generally improving our students’ experiences.

KLAP FM (89.5) is a non-profit community based radio providing commercial free music. We have very few stations that can be tuned in here in the desert and online. This station keeps us dancing in our souls.

Local economic development projects include refinishing the community center benches, hosting the Health Fair, getting grants for signage, and bringing in the Small Business Center to support local entrepreneurs.

This alternative fundraising option will allow us to still support these great causes. So please join me in supporting Gerlach Nevada.
