Hi team, as we all know our friend Harjot recently had two life changing experiences: one wonderful experience that we want to celebrate - his wedding - and one less wonderful experience, with he and his family coming down with Covid. Thankfully he is doing better and back at work by now.

To welcome Harjot back and celebrate his wedding, we wanted to organize this small fundraiser to contribute to the covid-19 relief efforts in India on his behalf, in lieu of more traditional wedding presents or taking him out for a dinner (maybe we can do dinner one day in 2022!!).

As we all know the situation across India and in many other countries across the world is not great, and those without means are by far the most affected and have the least access to vaccines and healthcare given current supply constraints. Gates has been doing amazing work on this front to enable vaccine access, and so thought it would be a fitting cause to get behind here. You can learn more about their work here:

Want to make a difference alongside your LATRO colleagues this holiday season?  

During the month of December, LATRO team members have the chance to partner with GSMA donor Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, by donating to the Gates Philanthropy Partners Combating COVID-19 Fund.  The Gates Foundation has committed more than $350 million for work on COVID-19 globally, along with $5 million towards support efforts in the U.S.  

And exciting news - LATRO will match individual team member contributions up to $100 USD!  Your gift will help to protect some of the most vulnerable populations living in Africa and South Asia (including in our Project126 Developing Markets) from the immediate impacts of the pandemic, while also helping their countries prepare for future outbreaks.  Your contribution will support the development of the most promising diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines to stop the virus spread and help those who are sick to recover faster.
