About Gary Historical and Cultural Society, Inc.

Our mission is to bring together into a work or study a community of persons who have an active interest in the research, accumulation, restoration and preservation of ethic and cultural data and artifacts which are pertinent to the history and culture of the citizens of Gary; stimulate research efforts to obtain documents and evidence pertinent to the history and culture of the citizens of Gary; establish a permanent museum to house documents and artifacts in Gary; to venerate pioneers and their families; and to promote a Gary Civic Symphony Orchestra to enrich the lives of the community musically. Furthermore, the corporation is exclusively charitable and educational.
