Hi, I'm Dustin Bowman, and I'm partnering with GardenShare, a vital organization dedicated to ensuring food security for all residents of St. Lawrence County. Hundreds of our neighbors rely on SNAP benefits each month - and those benefits are now at risk due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. We all know someone who has received or is currently a recipient of SNAP benefits. Losing those benefits would mean parents going without meals so their kids can eat, older adults skipping essentials to make ends meet, and a huge blow to the North Country economy -- hurting grocery stores, farmers, and small businesses that keep our communities strong.
Gardenshare strives to:
- Remove barriers to access by providing resources and education to those in need
- Promote a more resilient North Country food system
- Engage community partners to promote equitable distribution of food resources
