Ground Breaking Ceremony in Effiduase Methodist School. In 2016, GapBuster conducted a needs assessment and realized it was necessary to build infrastructure such as washrooms and dining halls to host STEM-related programs for the public schools. We identified Effiduase Methodist Primary School to conduct our pilot program.
GapBuster Ghana is a subsidiary of GapBuster, Inc. GapBuster, Inc. was founded in 1999 and expanded into Ghana in June 2017. Our organization has worked on the continent of Africa since 2004. GapBuster, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, minority-founded educational organization dedicated to empowering the community through education. Through supplemental education, enrichment programs and leadership development training, GapBuster develops well-rounded individuals positioned to excel in academic, social and professional environments. Our motto is “Educate, Elevate and Empower,” to inspire youth to be future leaders through the power of education.
Aligned with President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo STEM initiative, Gapbuster expanded into Ghana and incorporated GapBuster Ghana as a Non-Government Organization. GapBuster Ghana hopes to address the need to increase girls entering the STEM fields, we decided to work in rural/village areas of the country targeting public schools only. Our goal is to expose the girl-child ages 11 to 17 to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as well as create STEM Centers in selected areas of the country.
GapBuster plans to host cross-cultural exchange programs between students in Ghana and USA.
