My name is Valentina Gomez, I am 20 years old and study at University of Miami. Last summer, I had the opportunity to photograph kids at a Nutrinfantil, a nonprofit organization supporting malnourished children in Bogotá, my hometown. During my time with them I taught the kids how to take pictures, and asked them about their dreams. I expected answers like “an Xbox” or “a TV,” but what they shared with me was deeply moving: the dream for many of them was to see the ocean. Due to their financial circumstances, they had never had the chance to visit the beach.

As I watched them play and envisioned their dream, I realized that through my photography, I could help make it a reality. I am committed to using all (100%) of my photography earnings to fund a special trip for these children. The goal is to provide transportation, accommodation, and food for five children and their caretakers so they can experience the ocean for the first time. Seeing their joy and wonder would mean everything to me. Please join me in this journey to making their dreams come true.
