Aché Health Project Fundraiser with Future Kind
In early 2020, I (Tammy) had the privilege of volunteering with Future Kind to travel and support the development of sustainable health improvement projects for the indigenous Aché tribes in Paraguay. I will be traveling back to the Aché communities in Paraguay this winter to continue the public health work we started for my graduate school internship. Our team will be implementing several health projects in response to needs identified by the Ache community.
Indigenous groups, such as the Aché in Paraguay, are vulnerable populations who experience extreme poverty, low educational attainment, and lack of access to health care and social services - social determinants that increase the risks of HIV/STI transmission.
My project is committed to educating my Aché family on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and sexually transmitted infection (STI) followed by providing tests so we can identify and treat positive STI and HIV cases. This is something that has not been available to the Aché, will help prevent future outbreaks, and collect baseline data.
For her project, my colleague Breanna will be setting up an electronic medical record (EMR) system for the Ache community health clinics. The EMR will be portable (laptop based) to enable mobile clinic services in unreached areas and will be designed to support population health initiatives such as childhood growth and development tracking, immunizations, and infectious disease testing and treatment.

Money raised through this fundraiser will enable the purchase of HIV and STI testing kits, medications, and a laptop for the clinic EMR.
Please consider making a donation to our fundraiser to support the important and much needed projects we will be implementing. These projects will provide the Aché communities in Paraguay to have a better quality of life - something everyone deserves.
