About Friends of the Wichita Falls Public LIbrary
The Friends of the Library was formed to promote and support the Wichita Falls Public Library and has grown to promote juvenile literacy through direct and indirect means of providing books and sharing the joy and rewards of reading. Adults are also served by the availability of books on all topics through direct sales to patrons, free books to the homeless, unemployed or under-employed, shut-ins and the blind. Books are also made available to teachers, home-schoolers, pastors, church libraries, other non-profit organizations, social service agencies, medical facilities, jails, prisons, and governmental agencies. The Friends of the Library also provides and maintains books in 23 Little Free Libraries across Wichita Falls with plans to place Little Free Libraries in other areas in Wichita County. The Friends organization also sponsors a free Dr. Seuss Birthday Party the first Saturday in March providing literacy-based games and crafts concluding with a new Dr. Seuss or other book to each child participating. Free books, magazines, audio media and more are made available to the community on "free tables" outside the Book Warehouse, weather permitting, and inside whenever the Book Warehouse is open.
