Sponsor Skating Passes for Summit Atlas Kids in West Seattle
Summit Skates is a monthly "First Thursdays" community event for students in 6-12th grades at Summit Atlas public charter school in West Seattle Washington.
Since the school is small, it doesn't have traditional recreation spaces like a gymnasium or sports courts. Skating at Southgate roller rink, about a mile away is a good way for students to get off screens, get some exercise, and build community with their schoolmates.
The program is offered at a discounted rate for all students, and offered at no cost for students who are unable to pay. Every month there is about a $300 shortfall of funds, which means that in the 24/25 school year, there will be a roughly $2500 deficit of funds, if our number of monthly skaters stays the same as it was in September and October. We would like to grow the program to offer passes to any kid who would like to participate.
