Hi everyone,
My name is Michelle Cherner, and I’m a teacher in LAUSD who works at a school in the West Los Angeles Community of Schools in Region West. Today, I’m reaching out to ask for your support for a beloved fellow West LA Community of School school site, Marquez Elementary, as they face a heartbreaking challenge.
Recently, devastating fires have swept through our community, leaving destruction in their wake. Marquez Elementary has been profoundly impacted by these fires, disrupting the lives of students, staff, and families. What was once a vibrant space of learning and connection now faces the urgent need to rebuild and restore.
Marquez Elementary is more than just a school—it’s a cornerstone of our community in West LA. It’s a safe haven where children learn, grow, and thrive. But now, the destruction caused by the fires has left them in desperate need of help to recover and rebuild the supportive environment their students rely on.
All funds raised will go directly to the Friends of Marquez (FOM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the school’s essential needs. From replacing classroom materials lost in the fire to supporting vital programs, FOM works tirelessly to ensure Marquez Elementary continues to serve its students with excellence.
This is a time for us to come together as a community. Every donation, no matter the size, brings Marquez Elementary one step closer to recovery and helps ensure their students can continue learning in a safe and nurturing environment.
Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser with your network. Your kindness and generosity will make a tangible difference during this critical time of need.
Thank you for standing with Marquez Elementary and helping them rebuild after this tragedy.
With gratitude,
Michelle Cherner
