Support for The Nature Zone (Lynchburg Parks & Recreation)
Our organization is The Friends of Lynchburg Parks & Recreation (FLPR). We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, founded over 10 years ago. We advocate on behalf of Parks & Recreation and raise funds to support their projects and programs. One of these programs, the Nature Zone, recently was eliminated due to budget reductions by Lynchburg City Council. The Nature Zone offered live animal exhibits and hands-on activities, most recently at the Miller Center. They provided both on-site and outreach environmental education programs for children, families, civic organizations, teachers and the general public. The animals, who are housed at The Nature Zone, are still there until a plan can be developed for their future. The animals are being provided daily care, feeding, and veterinary care as needed. This Go Fund Me is raising money to help pay for the continued care of the animals. Our initial goal is $2,200. Thank you for your contribution!

Help us restore Creekside Trail in Lynchburg, Va. Five (5) miles of the Trail is still closed due to flash flood damage. Once the College Lake Dam overtopped, all of our parks and trails downstream from the dam suffered major damage. Three bridges were washed out along with over 300 downed trees, 40 new sandbars, 45 areas of stream bank erosion and tons of debris; it is going to be a long road back to prestorm conditions. We know that over 64,000 people use our parks and trails and hundreds use Creekside Trail daily for both runner training and nature respite.
