Help Build An Animal Shelter in Lincoln County, WV
Hi everyone!
We are Friends of Animals Lincoln County (FOALC) and we are trying to build Lincoln County’s first ever animal shelter!
Our county currently has no shelter/pound and animal control falls in the hands of our already overworked Sheriff’s department. When animal seizures take place due to abuse/neglect, there is currently no place to house them. We have assisted for many years by taking animals into our personal homes as fosters, but this has become an overwhelming task. Our county needs a permanent place of refuge for animals who have been abused/neglected by humans that have failed them.
We were awarded $35,000 in ARPA funding to get our project started, but starting from the ground up will take much more than that! We are attempting to raise another $20,000 in order to be able to complete our project.
The shelter will be built almost directly beside the new Duval PK-8 school in Griffithsville, which is easily accessible and conveniently located for most of our volunteers. We are hoping that with this location, we will have many more to volunteer, as this shelter will not have any paid employees - it will be ran strictly by members of our community.
Let’s all pull together and make something great happen for Lincoln County! All donations are 100% tax deductible and will be used completely for building the shelter and buying necessary supplies.
