The Front 9 at American Lake Veterans Golf Course
The front nine holes of the American Lake Veterans Golf Course is being renovated to make it more compatible for our disabled golfers and to correct 65-year-old design and construction flaws. The greens are not USGA standard, do not have any drainage and have many trees blocking the sunlight and airflow which causes extremely poor turf health. The tee boxes are in the same situation. The irrigation system is 20 years old and has constant sprinkler head
problems and main line breaks many times per month. In 2014 Jack Nicklaus designed a new back nine holes for our Veterans and redesigned the
existing front nine to correct these flaws and give our Veterans the beautiful venue they deserve.
When asked how much this design would cost, Jack said “I can’t charge you for this, we owe our Nations Veterans so much for the sacrifices they have made for our country”. “I will do it for free”.
