Help Friends for Survival Hire More Staff
We are a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt charitable, national non-profit bereavement outreach organization available to those who are grieving a suicide death of family or friends. We also assist professionals who work with those who are grieving a suicide tragedy. Friends For Survival, organized by and for survivors, has been offering suicide bereavement support services since 1983. All staff and volunteers have been directly impacted by a suicide death.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
We provide a variety of peer support services that comfort, encourage and educate those in grief including:
- Monthly meetings of grief support and education
- Monthly newsletter of sharing and information
- Comprehensive list of resources and reference library
- Speakers available for work places and agencies impacted by a suicide death
- Education from healthcare professionals and community advocates
- Toll Free Suicide Loss Helpline: 1-800-646-7322
The loving outreach of Friends for Survival can bridge the gap between despair and renewed hope. Those whose loss is recent can lean upon the shoulders of those who have made progress in the difficult task of working through grief after a suicide death.
Support Group Meetings
We share our struggles with grief after a suicide death. We share our frustrations and questions. We take this journey together as we help each other cope. Our meetings are peer support, not therapy sessions.
They are free and you are invited to attend for as long as you need. Please contact our office at [phone redacted] for meeting specifics or sign up here. Our monthly newsletter also lists our monthly meeting information.
Contact us and we can help you find a meeting in your area, regardless of where you live.
WHY DONATE?
Our requests for services has greatly increased over the last 12 months and we need to hire additional staff members to assist us in providing support services for suicide loss survivors. We are in need of hiring a full time lead facilitator, as well as additional administrative support.
Any donation you make will be impactful. A donation of $15 provides our newsletter to one family for the entire year. A donation of $5 covers the cost of one information packet (which we mail out to everyone that contacts us).
Friends for Survival, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt charitable, non-profit organization funded solely by donations from individuals, foundations and corporations. We are grateful to the generous donors who support our mission and programs.
