Salem Education Foundation - Teacher Grants
Salem Education Foundation has had an eventful and exciting year! In the spring, our Board of Directors underwent a complete makeover. With new leadership has come a wonderfully revitalized focus on our cause: SUPPORTING OUR EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS. SEF provides grants to Salem Public and Charter School teachers who wish to bring creative projects that go beyond their budgets to the classrooms. We provided over $50,000 in 2019 and 2020 to fund these and many more programs throughout the Salem Public Schools:
- Dominican Music Exposition – Collins Middle School
- Democracy in Action: Harvard Model Congress – Salem High School
- Loving Literacy: Independent Reading Library – Salem Academy Charter School
- Young Athletes – Witchcraft Heights and Early Childhood Center
- Try It Before You Buy It: An Assistive Technology Initiative – Saltonstall
As most of you did, we had to get creative for the ’20 -‘21 school year. In lieu of our normal grants cycle, we worked with Superintendent Zrike to fund a large remote learning supply order for 4,200 Salem students. We partnered with Safer Outside in Salem, a tenacious grassroots parent team that planned and installed outdoor learning spaces at the elementary schools. This year, we re-opened our grants cycle. We are once again giving teachers the opportunity to implement learning programs in the Arts, Leadership, Literacy, STEM, Health and Wellness and more.
We are a 100% volunteer organization. Your donation will directly infuse our schools with enrichment programs and outside-the-box thinking from our educators. We sincerely appreciate the continued support of our donors. Your donation is enhancing education, allowing teachers to inspire Salem students.
