Forestry Scholarship Association

With the help of a local carpenter, the UM Woodsman Team is continuing work on the new indoor training arena and storage facility to be built at the Competition Grounds in Missoula, MT. The blue prints have been drawn up and have been approved by the city. Almost all of the lumber and concrete has been donated and as things come together the Team is going to need lots of man power and more supplies to complete the project. 

This building will be used for practice and training in the cold winter months and for equipment storage. The small storage shed currently being used for gear storage has been broken into multiple times and thousands of dollars of equipment has been stolen over the years. This new building will prevent that from happening again.

The Team is looking for donations. If you are unable to donate materials, you can help with cash or time/labor donations. Anything is greatly appreciated and will help the Woodsmen Team be successful. 

$10,000 total is needed to get the project rolling during Fall 2018. This is needed to pay for the foundation excavation, concrete pouring, and prefabricated roof trusses.

About the Team:
The Woodsman Team competes with colleges around the western United States in logger sports. Some of the events include birling (logrolling), pole climbing, chopping, sawing with cross-cut saws and chainsaws and axe throw. They host a show every year around the end of April and also travel to Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, and sometimes California to compete. The Forestry Scholarship Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to serving and supporting ALL students and student organizations of the W.A. Franke College of Forestry & Conservation (FCFC) at The University of Montana. The goals of the FSA focus on benefiting students and their future.
