Sound Panels for Dogs and People of FHS!
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Foothills Humane Society, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

We are raising money to outfit the Dog and Puppy building with acoustic panels. Acoustic panels are designed to reduce noise levels and eliminate echoes in a room. It works by absorbing sound waves and preventing them from reflecting off of hard surfaces. This can help to create a more pleasant and less noisy environment.

According to the CDC, "Noise above 70 dB over a prolonged period of time may start to damage your hearing. Loud noise above 120 dB can cause immediate harm to your ears."

This is the damage to a person's hearing. For dogs, according to CrittEar, "...anything above 85 dB is too loud for dogs to hear as these sounds could create irreparable cilia cell damage and it worsens with length of exposure and higher decibel levels."

Foothills has an amazing newer building for dogs and puppies. While the new building is roomey and beautiful, it is lacking one important part...sound absorbtion. When dogs are barking the dB can increase to over 80dB even up to 100dB at times! The volunteers and employees cannot wear ear plugs as this poses a risk to not being able to hear when others need help or if a dog should need assistance. Most importantly the dogs suffer. Puppies cannot get rest and dogs cannot decompress. Acoustic panels would lower the dB down to a safe level; thus providing a more comfortable place for people and pets!

Save Snoozy's Leg
A report came into Animal Control asking for a wellfair check to be done at a home in our county. When animal control inspected the home they were horrified at their findings. They found a very matted Sheepdog who was terrified and running on the property. They also found a Dachshund mix tied up. Lastly, they found Snoozy chained along with a cord wrapped around her leg that had embedded so deeply that the cord had cut through tendons. Snoozy was unable to move in any direction forcing her to simply lay down. All three dogs were well fed leading us to believe someone was feeding them witnessing this torture but leaving Snoozy and the others to wonder why they were being subjected to such neglect. Through everything they've been through all three dogs have kept high spirits and are very friendly.
Due to the extensive damage to Snoozy's leg, every attempt so far has failed. The surgery now is to fuse tendons together to save her leg which is estimated to be $2,000. $4,000 will cover her heartworm treatment as she is high heartworm positive, will cover her medical expenses and daily expenses like boarding. Any amount will help and if we go over our goal, absolutely any money will go towards the care of any future cases.

New spay-neuter clinic at Foothills HS
Foothills Humane Society is fulfilling a long-time goal of creating our own spay/neuter clinic at the shelter, but we really need your help! The essential surgical tools are expensive - each pack costs about $200. They are reusable but the initial purchase will run around $10000. We are asking for contributions to purchase cat and dog spay packs so we can begin this fall.

The burden of thousands of unwanted animals in Polk County can easily be reduced with these simple surgeries. The shelter needs your help in achieving this important goal, so please help with a donation. Thank you!
