I Grew A Mullet to Fight Child Hunger

Over the next few years I was able to get back on my feet, and one summer night in 2016 I got the subtle nudging that it was my turn to pay it forward. Enter Headlock on Hunger , a non-profit, wrestling event that raised awareness about child hunger in my community. In the past 4 years with the help of faithful volunteers we’ve been able to collect over 32,000lbs of food and raise over $20K for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada .

We had big plans this year, as a matter of fact we boasted the 2020 event would be the BIGGEST to date. We were pretty confident too. Then the world shut down because of this thing going around, not sure if you’ve heard of it, COVID-19? Luckily one thing we’ve learned over the years of running Headlock on Hunger is that we had to be flexible, and this year would require a contortionist type of flexibility. So, after I got done turning myself into a human pretzel, I remembered a Facebook post from January where I had jokingly stated that if we met our 2020 goal I’d grow mullet. Yes, you heard that right, a mullet, business in the front, party in the back. Well, with everything shut down I now had an excuse to grow my hair out, and here we are. I have grown a mullet and risked public embarrassment to raise money for child hunger. One in five kids in my community are affected by hunger, and with winter break quickly approaching we want to make sure not a single one of them goes without food. We’re asking, can you be 1 of 800 people to step up and donate at least $25 before Thanksgiving? Every dollar donated will go to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and in turn they will provide 3 meals for the less fortunate. If you’re not in the financial position to donate, we understand. You can still help us out greatly by sharing this fundraiser on your social media. Thanks in advance for all your support.
