We’re 12th State Cycling, and we’re hosting the Corkscrew Challenge to raise money for a cause that’s close to our hearts — the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, Inc.

The Food Bank’s mission is simple yet powerful: nourish people, build solutions, and empower communities. Every day, they work tirelessly to fight hunger and promote self-sufficiency across our region.

Through the Corkscrew Challenge, we’re coming together as cyclists and neighbors to make a real difference — and we invite you to join us. Your donations will help the Food Bank:

To kickstart 2026 and celebrate our Dad's 70th birthday, we are planning something a little different. When we asked him what he wanted or needed, he instead told us he has been blessed over his 70 years and that any gift money should go to those in need. Therefore, we would love your support in raising $700 for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, Inc. in his honor from now through his birthday on January 3rd.

Hi, I’m Maya Greene, and I'm excited to launch this fundraiser to support the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, Inc. I go to Broughton High school, My club Food For All is holding this Food Drive/ Fundraiser. Our mission at SMath Tutors, an organization led and operated by students from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, is to promote the education of students around the nation through quality online instruction. SMath Tutors places a strong emphasis on aiding underprivileged students without the necessary resources to obtain a proper education. Our diverse course offerings aim to make education more equitable, and our tutors are excited to expose students to fields that they may develop a strong passion for. In the future, we hope to act as a catalyst for STEM education throughout North Carolina and the nation, and wish to inspire other schools to start programs like ours.

When SMath Tutors was originally founded in 2020, we partnered with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina to address the heightened impact of food insecurity on North Carolina communities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As hunger in our communities is a persistent issue, regardless of the state of the pandemic, we have decided to continue donating all profits from our tutoring services to the Food Bank.

If possible, please do consider either donating or taking our courses to fund the Food Bank’s fight against hunger. However, we understand that many students will not be able to pay for our services, and we would still like to provide those students with an opportunity to obtain academic assistance. The Delta Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi is looking to raise money to help those affected by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. Members of our fraternity are going to be preparing food, water, and other essential supplies that will be delivered by a food bank to communities in need. The organization we are working with is called the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina's Mission Plan:

"For every dollar donated, food banks can provide multiple meals of food — far more than any individual can purchase at retail prices... Our network of pantries, no-cost markets, meal sites, and delivery programs moves mountains to ensure everyone in our communities has access to food and other essential resources in the wake of a storm."
