Flying V

Bright college student Luciana has always felt invisible. She leans on her one best friend, crushes on the girl at the comic shop from afar, and toils at writing alone. Suddenly, Luciana acquires electricity-related superpowers and finds that, like a battery, she's slowly fading out. Can she figure out how to be seen before it's too late?

VANISHING GIRL is a powerful new musical by William Yanesh (music and lyrics) and Hope Villanueva (book) and directed by Eric Jordan Young about feeling invisible and learning you're not.

VANISHING GIRL has had preliminary readings and showcases at the Latiné Musical Theatre Lab and The Composers Showcase of Las Vegas. The early buzz has been great, but we are ready to take this show to the next level and need your help!

The Vanishing Girl team has big dreams for this original musical. From January 20 to January 29, 2023 the show will be in residence at Flying V, in Silver Spring, MD. While Flying V has generously donated the cost of the space for workshopping the show, as well as $5,000 to put toward contracting performers and musicians - creating new musicals isn't cheap! Overall, the expected total cost of this iteration of the project is closer to $10,400.

Black Box Theatre Reservation: $1,400

Anticipated Fees for Performers: $5,500

Anticipated Operating Costs: $700
