Finneytown Secondary House System
The good news is that the school has a strong group of committed teachers and administration working toward fixing this through many avenues. One of these approaches is the implementation of the ‘House System’ which is the vertical integration of students in 6th-12th grades into teams (or Houses, think Harry Potter) to compete in mentoring programs, activities, sporting events, attendance, grades, and acts of kindness. These Houses contribute to the improvement of the school through service projects that include maintaining the student garden, painting murals, etc., and students are rewarded for outstanding achievements through pizza parties, field trips, and field days, to name a few. By giving students the opportunity to plan and manage these very same activities, the House System prepares kids for the real world by giving them many more leadership opportunities than a traditional classroom. The goal is for the secondary campus to not only succeed academically, but truly become more than a school. To that end, the Finneytown Schools Educational Foundation is working to raise $10,000 from Alums to contribute to the House System. Please give back to the community that gave us so much!
