Grace's Fifty 4 F4F
Please join me as I run 50 miles to raise money for the critical food emergency in the United States.
On July 10th I will be running 50 miles—Leadville 50 mile Silver Rush —to raise money and awareness for Families4Families. One in five families in the United States does not know where their next meal is coming from. I am asking for your help so that we can change this. Please consider supporting me as I train and prepare for this 50 mile race on July 10th.
I joined the Families4Families (F4F) team this past winter as the Executive Director, and have been honored to be a part of such a transformative way to address food insecurity in our country. F4F began as a solution to the immediate food crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our model is simple. We deliver a week of food and essentials to families in need throughout the country. Since March 2020, we have delivered close to 500,000 meals to families in need.
F4F elevates grassroots campaigns, and youth leaders, both of which are vital in initiating long standing change. F4F oversees 25 student-led clubs that organize monthly grocery drop offs for a minimum of ten families. These groceries are then delivered to one of 15 vetted nonprofits, who distribute the goods to community members disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, and food insecurity at large. Beyond food, the student clubs make an effort to include additional items such as P.P.E., diapers, or cleaning supplies. Whatever the nonprofits suggest their community members are in need of, the students make sure to add these items to the standard groceries. Not only does this allow for youth-driven leadership, but the students then learn about the community initiatives being done at the grassroots level. I have seen young students learn about accessibility, food insecurity, and systemic barriers by way of dialogue followed by action with their nonprofit partners.
I believe grassroots organizations paired with youth initiatives are the recipe for change. I have felt more motivated and inspired by all of the people and organizations behind F4F, I myself have been digging deep to see what I have to give.
Join me as I run 50 miles for a cause that continues to change the way we engage on a neighborhood scale.
