Faith and Support Ministry Needs Your Help
Faith and Support Ministry is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides care bags free of charge to patients recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Items are handmade by volunteers that have experienced breast cancer themselves or through a family member or friend. Our care bags include a mastectomy pillow, a port pillow for chemotherapy treatment, a tank top with Velcro across the shoulders, a lanyard to hold drain tubes following a mastectomy and a few other items. Our goal is to provide these patients with hope and encouragement during one of the darkest times in their lives.
Faith and Support Ministry currently partners with the following healthcare facilities to provide their care bags to patients:
- Prisma Health® Breast Care Center at Patewood
- Prisma Health® Cancer Center on Grove Road
- Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center on Innovation Drive
- AnMed Health Cancer Center in Anderson
- The Cancer Society of Greenville County on Mills Avenue
- We mail our bags to patients throughout the US upon request
Right now, our volunteers meet once a month at Sandy Springs Baptist Church's social hall to produce the products, and the ministry is being run out of the home of Tammy Tester, the ministry founder.
The need right now is tremendous in the Greenville/Anderson area. Our immediate need is that we have outgrown the small bedroom in Tammy's home, so our ministry needs a storage building to house our supplies and products. We are also in need of a van so that we can transport the materials to the church for our sewing days and also to make deliveries to the various healthcare facilities. Tammy's Honda CRV will no longer hold all of the supplies necessary to load in and load out for our ministry sew days.
A long-term goal of our ministry would be to have our own building that would provide an office, storage of supplies, and our sewing meeting location - but this is a future dream.
100% of all donations received will be used for this ministry. We have NO overhead or payroll costs. All of our products are purchased using personal donations and/or grants. All time is donated by a wonderful group of volunteers.
