My name is Brian Coleman. From 2005 to 2020, I headed a 501(c)3 public charity called Golf Supports Our Troops. Our mission statement was “to improve the lives of wounded and disabled veterans and active duty troops through the game of golf.” We donated golf training and exercise equipment to VA facilities across the country. We installed 1,500 square foot, wheelchair-accessible synthetic putting greens at 11 VA hospitals specializing in spinal cord injury rehabilitation so wheelchair-bound patients could enjoy a new, fun activity. In 2015, 2017, and 2019, we hosted 20 wounded/disabled veterans on all-expenses-paid, one-week golf trips to Ireland to thank them for their service and sacrifice. We called these trips Heroes to Ireland.
I closed down my charity in 2020 because of the COVID pandemic. However, I am attempting to host one more Heroes to Ireland trip in 2025 for 20 more wounded/disabled veterans and I need your help.
The 2019 trip cost $85,000. The proposed 2025 trip will probably cost closer to $100,000 due to inflation. My wife and I are seeding the fundraising drive by matching the first $20,000 donated. Donations made through GoFundMe for Heroes to Ireland 2025 will go to Fairways for Warriors so that all donations are tax-deductible. Fairways for Warriors is a highly respected 501(c)3 charity (EIN 273671721). Every donation will be acknowledged with a receipt.
Many of the veterans who participated in the 2015, 2017, and 2019 trips said it was the best week of their lives. There was a lot of healing going on with veterans interacting with each other, sharing experiences, and building friendships.
My quest to make Heroes to Ireland 2025 a reality for 20 more veterans depends on generous people like you who can help them enjoy a well-deserved, once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s the least we can do for these American Heroes.
