I have been lucky enough to be picked to join the Essex Boys and Girls club on their 2026 trip to Nepal. On this trip we will explore Kathmandu, trek the Himalayan foothills to the village of Barpak where we will be volunteering and white water raft down the River Trishuli.

Part of this challenge is to raise the funds for my trip and I will be doing various fundraising activities on the lead up but all donations are very greatly appreciated. If you are kind enough to donate please do add the gift aid, there is no extra cost to you but it boosts your donation.

In August 2026, I will be embarking on a life-changing three-week educational trip to Nepal. This journey will include a challenging community hike from Kathmandu to Barpak and back, where I'll be immersed in the breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayas.

Along the way, I'll take part in exhilarating white-water rafting and spend time living with a village community in Barpak, learning about their rich culture and contributing through local service projects.

This trip is not only about adventure; it's about building resilience, fostering teamwork, and gaining a deeper understanding of global communities. It is an opportunity to advocate for those who may not have the same chances we do and to bring back valuable lessons that can inspire change.

Hello, my name is Kayin Rose-Morrison. I am 17 years old, and I have been given an amazing opportunity to take part in a life-changing expedition to Nepal in 2026. This trip will include trekking through the breathtaking mountains, experiencing Nepal’s rich culture, and connecting with local communities.

For me, this trip is not just about adventure—it’s about growth, challenge, and giving back.

Why Nepal?

Trekking in Nepal will be both physically and mentally demanding. But I feel ready for this challenge thanks to my background in football, athletics, and martial arts. I have trained regularly with a personal coach since 2019, and through sport I’ve developed resilience, discipline, and teamwork. These qualities will help me succeed on the trek and support my group.

I am also excited to learn from and connect with the people of Nepal. In 2020, I co-authored My Roots, a book celebrating the Windrush generation. That experience taught me the importance of listening to others’ stories and respecting different cultures. I hope to bring that same spirit of openness and curiosity to this journey.

About Me

Education: I recently passed all of my GCSEs, which made my parents very proud and showed me the value of hard work and determination.

Music & Arts: I studied drums, piano, and guitar at Temple Springs Music School for over 10 years, performing in shows and achieving the Trinity College London Arts Award.

Sport & Fitness: Experienced footballer with a strong background in training and competition. Also achieved a Brown Belt in karate.

Community & Leadership: I have sold books and bottled water at community events, learning how to communicate confidently and support others.

Recognition: I was proud to receive The Most Respected Award for my positive contributions to school life.

Hi My Name is Seth, In September I am planning on going on an adventure of a life time to America, I am Trekking along the Appalachian Trail, From Fontana Dam to Davenport Gap. This will mean walking over 10 miles each day and staying in shelters located along the trail. In all I will cover 73 miles of the Smoky Mountain section of the Trail.

As a trainee youth worker this will allow mean to gain so many more skills and i am very excited to meet other youth groups out there.

The reason why I would like to do this challenge is because I would like to push myself out of my comfort zone. I would describe myself as being funny, kind and happy.

I have never had an experience like this before but I thought that this is my year.

I am a student at Colchester Institute studying early years. In the future I am hoping to be a nursery practitioner when I grow up and this experience will help me because we will be visiting a youth group with children aging from 3 and will give me experience for my future job.

On the 30.01.26-01.02.26 I will be taken part in a White Water Rafting weekend in wales to push myself out of my comfort zone and raise money for the America Challenge.

Help Samuel Reach Nepal: A Journey to Make a Difference

This August, Samuel, who will be 16, will embark on an incredible 20-day adventure to Nepal with Essex Boys and Girls (EBAG). As part of this life-changing trip, he will spend 12 days hiking and camping en route to the remote village of Barpak. While there, Samuel will work with a local school, helping children improve their English, assisting mothers in their community groups, and contributing to rebuilding projects to restore buildings damaged by a devastating earthquake.

To prepare for this journey, Samuel is participating in a 100-mile canoe test on the River Wye in Wales, starting at Fownhope Recreation Ground, alongside 20 other children. This test, taking place in May, will challenge his endurance and teamwork. Samuel is also traveling to Layer Marney to develop outdoor and rescue training skills as part of his preparation.

Samuel has been involved with EBAG for several years and has grown tremendously through their programs. Inspired by his experiences, he plans to attend Writtle College to pursue a diploma in outdoor sports, with the dream of becoming a mountain leader. His ultimate goal is to open a center where teenagers can experience caving, hiking, and outdoor adventures—activities that are vital for mental health and fitness.

Samuel is undertaking this journey in loving memory of his two nans, Shelaigh Hisscott and Lynn Bruton, who were a big part of his life and whom he sadly lost. He knows they would have been incredibly proud of him and will be thinking of them every step of the way.

His family is proud of the kind, hardworking young man he is becoming. To support his journey, Samuel is also taking on small tasks like dog walking, car cleaning, and volunteering in exchange for donations.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Samuel to grow, make a difference, and honor the memory of his loved ones. Any support—whether through donations or sponsorship—would mean the world to him.

In August 2025, I will be participating in the Nepal Adventure, organised by Essex Boys and Girls Clubs. This adventure will be a significant challenge and a chance to broaden my horizons in ways I have not yet experienced.

The Essex Boys and Girls Clubs is a registered UK charity which supports young people across Essex and London. The trip will consist of exploring cultural sites in Kathmandu, followed by a week-long hike to a remote village called Barpak, where we will be staying and working with the local community to help with its development through work with various community groups and organisations. I will be working with the school to support learning, a local community group to distribute aid, and volunteering at the local library and resource centre during my stay.

As part of their project I need to fundraise £3,200 towards my place, with some of that money going towards supporting projects that I will volunteer on in the village. Hi, my name is Hollie Hewitt, and I am a young leader and volunteer for Essex Boys and Girls Clubs (EBGC) as-well an sub-officer cadet with LFB. I am excited to take on the incredible challenge of hiking through Nepal, covering areas such as Kathmandu, Barpak, and even experiencing white water rafting down the River Trisuli. I am going to Nepal to work in a remote village, called Barpak that was sadly destroyed by an earthquake. During this adventure, I will be completing 12 days hiking and camping, 4 days of community-based work, 2 days white water rafting and 2 days visiting cultural sites in the city of Kathmandu. In the village, I will be supporting learning in the school, helping the mothers’ group and working on other ongoing rebuilding projects in Barpak. This journey is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will not only allow me to grow personally and develop my leadership skills but also give me the chance to bring back valuable insights to share with EBGC and my community. While in Nepal, I will immerse myself in new cultures and spend time with local communities as I hike through remote villages. For me to be able to take part in this experience i am needing to raise £3,200. While preparing for nepal i will be taking part in activities such as 100 miles in a canoe , water sports and long distance walks and hikes this gives me more opportunities to collect sponsorship for nepal 2025. Hello, I'm Lola and I am fundraising to go on a volunteering trip in the Summer of 2025 to the remote mountain village of Barpak in Nepal where I will support the local community.

I will spend 8 days hiking with the Essex Boys and Girls Club to the village which sits 6,200 ft above sea level. Once arrived we will spend our time living and working with the local community, building on the previous visits to help develop the village after an earthquake faced.

As part of the project I need to fundraise £3,200 for my travels, food, accommodation and supplies or aid for those in the community of Barpak.

I have been doing a range of fundraising activities including local fetes, parties, a 10,000ft skydive and hosting a quiz night.

The funds that are raised from this link will go towards Nepalese people who have suffered from a recent earthquake that has taken place in 2023. The expedition to the village of Barpak in Nepal, will give me the opportunity to help and connect with the local community and assist a local school. The funds raised will go towards:

-Providing food and clothes for locals

-Teaching children how to read and write

-Providing them with books

-Interact with community activities

Building bridges between ourselves and the local Nepalese community through exploring new cultures and values with the aim of bettering the quality of their lives

3 Peaks Challenge (Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon) in 24hrs

Hi everyone, on Sunday 16th June I’m going to be taking part in the unique challenge to climb the 3 Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) in 24 hrs.

I am told the scale of the challenge is not to be underestimated. We will get very little sleep during a 36-hour period and walk the equivalent distance of a marathon whilst climbing over 10,000 feet. So, this will be a test of determination, drive, mental toughness and physically demanding. A challenge without mercy!

Over the past few months, I have been training to give myself the best possible chance of completing this event.

I’m going to be fund raising to support the charitable organisation of the Essex Boys and Girls Clubs. EBGC are a membership organisation who support a network of voluntary youth clubs in Essex and East London. They work to empower young people aged 11-25 to reach their potential and further their development and education enabling them to grow as individuals and members of society. EBGC will be providing transport to and from each peak by minibus. There will also be 2 experienced leaders with the group, who have previously completed the challenge and walked on the respective mountains.

Essex Boys and Girls Clubs will take on the 900 mile cycle from Lands End To John O'Groats in 8 days starting on 17th September 2022 to raise money for the work they do! EBGC have a team of cyclists made up of EBGC supporters & volunteers, youth club volunteers and staff members gearing up to take on the challenge. Training has started and the countdown clock has begun!!

 

Who are Essex Boys and Girls Clubs?

Essex Boys and Girls Clubs were set up in 1939; since then we have supported the amazing volunteers who run our affiliated clubs to ensure that they are sustainable and continue to support local young people. We help communities to set up and run new youth provision and work with local partners to provide the best possible support. 

 

We provide an extensive program of activities and events to create opportunities for young people aged 11-19 to develop their character, enhance their skills, encourage good health and wellbeing, promote good citizenship and build their own bright future.

 

We have at our core an adventurous ‘can-do’ spirit, maintaining the ethos that young people develop positive skills and social responsibility by taking on challenges together. Therefore we head to the mountains of England as often as possible with groups from our clubs in the flatlands of Essex.
